Event 3: 8th Place - Polson

$350 + $50 Seven Card Stud

Al Polson (Williamsburg, VA)
$1,004

Al Polson's tournament ends when he picks up two pairs, jacks and tens, on his first four cards, but the short stack is rundown by Chris Tryba who ends up with a higher two pairs.

"I'm thrilled," says Polson, who owns an executive recruiting firm. "I was down to to 3,300 chips and came back to 90,000. So I'm happy."

Polson makes several trips a year to Borgata and always targets this series and the September Poker Open to play both tournaments and cash games. He's sticking around for a few more tournaments and will keep an eye on his son who's playing in the PLO event.

As for business, Polson says he's seen a turnaround in the economy the last six months. "People are hiring like crazy, but I deal mostly with manufacturing which is always steady. Right now it's pretty hot."

Polson, the 9th place finisher in the Seven Card Stud tournament, takes home $1,004.
